BYD Hits 13 Million EV Milestone, Cementing Global Leadership in Electric Mobility
Chinese EV leader BYD (Build Your Dreams) has become the world’s first automaker to produce 13 million electric vehicles, underscoring its dominance in the global EV sector. The milestone vehicle, a luxury Yangwang U7, was rolled off the production line on July 21, 2025, highlighting BYD’s rapid growth and innovation. The company achieved this feat just eight months after reaching the 10 million mark, demonstrating exponential expansion in production and sales.
In the first half of 2025 alone, BYD sold over 2.14 million EVs, with exports soaring to 470,086 units—a 128.5% year-on-year increase. The Yangwang U7, known for its advanced features like DiSus-Z body control, rear-wheel steering, and BYD's proprietary e-platform, is gaining traction in China’s luxury EV market.
A key factor behind BYD’s success is its Blade Battery technology, which uses cobalt-free LFP chemistry and offers over 5,000 charge cycles, superior safety, and thermal stability. Introduced in 2020, this battery has become a cornerstone of BYD’s global offerings, earning acclaim for its durability and fire resistance.
With an aggressive push into Europe, Southeast Asia, and India, BYD is not only setting sales records but also redefining global EV standards through innovation, localized manufacturing, and expanding product diversity.
